Preview.
Was great to take a stroll down memory lane earlier this week and team up with The Post and Courier on this week’s Preview cover. Big thanks to Preview editor, renowned poet, and all-around great guy Marcus Amaker for facilitating the collaboration. A little background blurb I sent over (to be found someplace between the front and back cover of the issue)…
For a little over seven years (roughly 2001-2008) it was my responsibility and pleasure to design the cover of Preview every week. Details on the section’s cover story would begin trickling in on Monday, I’d spend the bulk of my Tuesday carving out a design, and then add the finishing touches Wednesday morning as the rest of the Preview team scurried to get everything out the door and onto the press. I can honestly say that for those seven years it was the high point of my work week at The P&C.
I’m currently running my own graphic design business (J Fletcher Design – www.jfletcherdesign.com) and have since gone on to work with wonderful clients of all shapes & sizes, but the cover of Preview will always hold a special spot in my heart. Which is why I was thrilled when Preview editor Marcus Amaker offered to let me have at it again, for old time’s sake. The monitor I’m working on has changed and the view out my window is quite a bit different, but it still felt exactly the same to crack open that 9 x 11″ template and get down to business.
