The Details
LOOKS DO MATTER.
My bedrock philosophy is simple – it’s all about the work. I believe in the power of visual communication. To tell you the truth, I really believe in it. Frankly, I’m sort of in love with it. Whether you’re a mom & pop or a Fortune 500, design is the face of your business and the foot you put forward. It makes your first impression and speaks volumes on your behalf. When done correctly, it’s money in the bank. From the quick project to the monumental challenge, I believe nothing is routine and everything is an opportunity to shine. So crack a Dr. Pepper (or a Diet Dr. Pepper if you’re on the wagon), take the site for a spin, and get in touch. Let’s work on your image.
I’ve been living and working as a designer, illustrator, and art director in Charleston, South Carolina since 2001. Prior to that I attended the Columbus College of Art & Design, where I learned how to subsist on Reese’s Pieces, boost my immunity to turpentine fumes, and stealthily bail out of philosophy class when the teacher’s back was turned. Like a ninja.
Sadly, I’m less eccentric than I’d like to admit. Don’t expect me to say anything artsy or strange. I have bicycles of various prices and speeds, a handful of surfboards, and two fake teeth in my mouth due to a little mishap with one of them. I love the $15 charcoal grill I bought at Lowe’s, although I think the firemen across the street might not. Something about flames
on the porch of a 200-year-old house bothers them. Whatever. They’ve never tasted my salmon.
In 2004, J Fletcher Design took root as a late-night side gig. Momentum picked up and grew the operation into a full-time business, but the passion didn’t fade. I take pride in the level of dedication I have and the amount of craftsmanship I’ve developed, which has led to international recognition from some of the design world’s most prominent voices, such as Communication Arts and The Society for News Design. Above all, I’ve fostered a healthy stable of happy clients and it’s still all about the work. In more ways than one, good design creates results you can see.
