About a year ago I was approached by London-based publisher Cicada and asked to represent Charleston in their upcoming guidebook “Graphic USA.” The book is a followup to their first book, “Graphic Europe,” comprised of 31 chapters written & illustrated by 31 designers in various European cities. Each designer pens an introductory page, then a slew of personal “best of” picks – restaurants, bars, shopping, cultural events, green…
Although my life is lived almost exclusively in the design world these days, I still am occasionally asked for the odd illustration here and there. Just completed this one for the cover of CSO magazine’s annual “Global State of Information Security” issue – this year centered around the security and risk of cloud computing.
Enjoyed teaming up with Louie’s Kids again, this time on the poster for their 2010 Yoga Marathon…
Want to join hundreds of other devoted yogi’s for an afternoon of down dogs, headstands or mountain poses in one of Charleston, South Carolina’s most historic parks all the while raising money for a children’s charity? The Yoga Marathon benefiting Louie’s Kids is readying for their 7th year as the region’s most

Just finished a batch of limited edition silkscreened posters and t-shirts for this year’s Charleston Peace One Day Festival. The prints are all signed & numbered, 18″ x 24″ with blue, brown, and metallic copper inks on 100 lb. natural stock. As usual, a big thanks to The Half and Half for a spot-on printing job. The shirts are 2-color on American Apparel t’s. All will be for sale…
Charleston fitness guru, childhood obesity combatant, and Louie’s Kids founder Louis Yuhasz and I have crossed paths several times over the last couple years, each time wondering out loud when we’d get a chance to work together. The opportunity finally presented itself a few weeks ago when Louie’s Kids needed a poster for their upcoming Big Chef Little Chef event, and I was happy to do a little design…
A few months back I got the chance to do a little illustration work for Gil Shuler and the boys over at Current Electric Vehicles. Current is a new electric car dealership opening up in Charleston with a refreshing vibe: the staff’s focus is more on educating the customer about electric transportation, and less on making sure you walk out the door with a new set of keys in…
For the good life, outdoors and in. For health, happiness, and well-being. For friends and family – and even your pets. Charleston Naturally has gathered together the highest quality products – often organic, mindfully local, and forever focused on everything you need to live the Charleston lifestyle, naturally.
Always an awesome experience to team up with the interactive gurus over at Blue Ion. Not only do these guys (and gal) really know their stuff, but they’re just plain fun to be around as well. They recently got in touch looking for five conceptual illustrations to help represent Newbury – a new mixed-use development in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh, PA. When the work was done I consolidated each Photoshop…
Today the PK powers-that-be made it official: this Wednesday’s Pecha Kucha night will be at The Music Farm. As previously mentioned, I was stoked & jazzed & pumped & amped when they asked me to design the poster for the event. In honor of the venue we went with a gig poster sort of vibe, and this afternoon I cracked open a giant FedEx box to reveal another killer screenprinting job from…
Over 10 million children have received a dictionary thanks to the generosity of The Dictionary Project and its sponsors. The goal of this non-profit is to promote literacy and help students become good writers, active readers, and creative thinkers. The fine folks at The Dictionary Project and I have teamed up countless times over the years on a variety of work, all designed to appeal to their broad range of viewers, from…
During my former life as an illustrator & designer for Charleston’s daily newspaper, The Post and Courier, one of my cherished weekly responsibilities was to illustrate and design the cover of “Preview,” the paper’s entertainment tabloid. I’d have to check the archives to be certain, but I imagine I put together 200-300 covers while under the P&C’s roof.
In certain circumstances, us creative types are used to being called on by friends to donate our services. In this particular instance, we’ll refer to my buddy as “Green Bird.”
Good friend, rockin’ chef, and all-around-gem-of-a-guy Donnie Bulliard has been gardening since he could walk and Cajun cooking runs in his blood. Always the consummate entertainer, he started the Cajun Kitchen as a venue to host cooking demonstrations, during which he indulges groups of hungry visitors with his cuisine and captivates them with his charm.
A celebration of all things nautical, Charleston Harbor Fest lets guests tour an armada of tall ships, take a sailing lesson, or enjoy the scenic waterfront with a beverage in hand. For those more interested in air than sea, there are aerobatic flight demonstrations, helicopter rides, and other exciting arial attractions.
