Former professional cyclist, current paddleboarding champ, and Shine restaurant owner Dean Johnson has started shaping his own innovative line of stand up paddleboards. Was cool to team up with Dean on another logo, soon to drop into a waterway near you.

A good time was had by all this past Saturday night at the rock & roll themed 2010 ADDY awards. Good food, good friends, and great work. Always a treat to clink glasses with Charleston’s creative class. J Fletcher Design proudly carried away honors – three gold, a silver, and a bronze. Big thanks to everybody at Charleston AdFed for putting on such a killer show.

Just finished this small concert collateral package for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra’s Spiritual Ensemble. A few more project images here.

When Charleston Naturally founder Sharon Harvey and I met last year she told me all about her idea – an e-commerce site focused completely on the Lowcountry lifestyle and all that entails. We worked together to develop the basic look of her brand… her logomark, color scheme, textures, patterns, etc… and soon after those initial stages Blue Ion was brought on board to coordinate and develop the entire online shebang. The project was a lot of fun, but the real joy for me was getting to know everybody involved. Really can’t say enough great things about Sharon and the Charleston Naturally girls, big ups to Jenny Badman for all the sweet wordsmithery, and Blue Ion’s team couldn’t be any more on top of their game.

I’ve been super-slack on site updates and blog posts lately (abundance of projects + the holidays), but am getting ready for an uploading blitzkrieg of new work in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here’s some Shine advertising I did a few months ago and finally got around to posting today.

Always an awesome experience to team up with the interactive gurus over at Blue Ion. Not only do these guys (and gal) really know their stuff, but they’re just plain fun to be around as well. They recently got in touch looking for five conceptual illustrations to help represent Newbury – a new mixed-use development in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh, PA. When the work was done I consolidated each Photoshop file (see: mess) into two or three transparent layers (a foreground, middleground, and background), which they then brought to life with the parallax effect. Definitely a cool little touch. Check out the end result here.

Enjoyed teaming up with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra on this poster for their upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. tribute concert, “The Evolution of a Dream.” For more information or to purchase tickets, visit charlestonsymphony.com.

Very excited to be chosen as the 2010 Charleston Wine + Food Festival poster artist! A good time was had by all last night at the unveiling party where appetites were whet for March’s feast under the tents. A few months back my buds at Dwarf Dog Chuck asked if I’d put together a home page and navigation illustration for Carol Hannah’s site. I knew at the time she was set to appear on Project Runway, but had no idea the South Carolina girl would make it all the way to the final three. Tune in to Lifetime tomorrow night @ 10 PM for the season finale.
